The month of July is the period in which the majority of the European Universities Championships in the summer season of 2023 took place and were completed with great results and many new champions!
European University Sports Association (EUSA) opened this year's Championships season on 25th of June with the competition in Football, and throughout July, 11 Championships were successfully held, hosting: Tennis, Table Tennis, Handball, Badminton, Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball, Volleyball, Futsal, Combat Sports and Basketball.
July was filled with great moments of athleticism and fair play, showcasing incredible talent of young students from across Europe. Each game brought its share of excitement, anticipation, surprises and moments of brilliance, leaving both the participants and spectators in awe of the raw talent that every student-athlete presented.
With the great number of over 4100 participants in the so far completed championships, we are striving towards a record number by the end of the summer season this September.
As mentioned before, the 2023 European Universities Championships summer season had a fantastic start with Football in Tirana and a great continuation with Tennis, Table Tennis and Handball. The first half of the month brought us the first European Universities Champions, rising the excitement for the following events.
Mid July was the time when Badminton, Water Polo, 3x3 Basketball and Volleyball Championships were held, showcasing their skills. The taleted student-athletes showed their exceptional performances, competing for the best results and personal bests.
The European Universities Championships in Combat Sports (Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo), Futsal and Basketball concluded this competitive month. The events enabled a great deal of competition and encouraged the competitors to excel, while competing with fair play and great respect towards the opponents.
However, the season is not yet finished. After a short break, in August we are continuing the great summer season with the start of Orienteering, Rugby 7s, Rowing and Beach Sports (Beach Handball and Beach Volleyball). And to top it off, the inaugural edition of the Winter Sports (Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Snow Volleyball), will be held in December. Without a doubt, these championships will bring as much fun, scores, strong competition and great results as the rest that already have concluded.
EUSA's European Universities Championships offer the possibilities for student athletes to compete and challenge their sporting abilities, and besides counting the scores and results, they keep demonstrating that this is the time and place where we highlight the power of sports to foster friendships, understanding, and mutual respect among nations, reminding of the unifying spirit of sports.
We hope that this successful season of the European Universites Championships season will leave its own legacy and be another example of inspiration for future generations of university athletes across Europe.
